Summer League 2002 - Week 1 Report
Monday night saw the start of the Summer Tenpin Bowling Leagues with the new computer animations causing much amusement amongst the bowlers.   The first match found Papa's Kids taking on Gutterlevel and, despite a few closely fought individual points, Gutterlevel managed a 15 to 5 point win, with new team member Dave McGillvray putting in a solid performance.

Tyred Out
Billy Hamilton and Suzanne Hossack contested the DCC Ingliston Single Stage Tarmac Rally last weekend in the MSIS Opel Kadett.   They travelled down the 250 mile journey with their service crew consisting of Kevin Hamilton, Jackie McNeill, Davie Chisholm and June McNeill on Catering.

Caithness Amateur Sevens Football League - Week 18
Week 18 and last week of the RMC sponsored football league and the headlines are It's snow joke as Champions Ashes check out in style.   The games went ahead last night after teams agreed to finish the league despite the atrocious weather conditions as snow hit Naver last night.

As there was not a big entry all five categories Singles, Doubles and Mixed were played on a round robin basis.   Steven Craigie, Wick took all 3 titles - boys singles, doubles and mixed Kirsty Grant, Thurso took 2 titles - girls singles and doubles.

Caithness Amateur Sevens Football League - Week 17
Week 17 of the RMC sponsored league and the headlines are: Ashes are crowned as new RMC sevens champions! Ashes secured their first trophy last night with a 4-1 win over a fighting Castletown side.  Castletown indeed had the better of the first half and went a goal up after a defensive mix up left Stuart MacKenzie free and he nodded home from a free kick.

Week 16 of the RMC sponsored 7 a side league and the headlines are: Groats keep pressure on Ashes as title race goes to the wire.   John O'Groats made sure their was no celebrations for Ashes last night in rain swept Naver with a fine 4-1 victory over Pentlands.

First of all may I wish you all a happy new year Now on to business Week 15 of the RMC sponsored league and the headlines are: Jags burst Pentlands title bubble.   Thurso Thistle all but ended Pentlands league challenge in yesterdays top match.

Caithness Amateur Sevens Football League - Week 14
Week 14 of the RMC sponsored league, and the headlines are: Workshops edge out Castletown in Seven-Goal Christmas Cracker Castletown were left cursing their luck after fighting back from a goal down three times against Workshops only to come away empty-handed.  First Murray Mackay, and then Stuart Mackenzie had twice cancelled out Workshops' lead, but the village side were denied a deserved point when Neil Fearn's late strike took a wicked deflection off Murray Mackay to wrong-foot keeper Bruce Souter.

The re-arranged fixture between Workshops and Thistle was played yesterday(Sunday) at Naver.   Workshops knew a win was important to keep the pressure on The Ashes at the top and duly took the game to Thistle.

Week 12 of the RMC sponsored sevens and the headlines are: Co-op's endeavour pays big dividends at last.   Co-op were sensationally only 1 minute from defeating last seasons champs Acks in last nights fixture.

There was an entry of 20 boys and 10 girls from Thurso, Wick, Dunnet, Castletown & Lybster.  There were a lot of exciting matches with long rallies and a high standard of play and sportsmanship on and off court.

Week 10 of the RMC sponsored sevens league and the headlines are: Horror leg break leaves players stunned.  The much awaited clash between Acks and Pentland was dramatically abandoned last night after both sets of players decided not to continue after Pentlands Ally Fraser suffered a horrific double fracture of the leg and Acks David Mackay suffered a bad knee injury.
