Sponsorship Of Communities League Cup To Continue

The Scottish Government is renewing its sponsorship of this year's Scottish Communities League Cup, with funding support of £1.7 million.   And £500,000 of the money will come from the hugely successful Cashback for Communities programme - seizing ill-gotten gains from criminals and investing it to help young people.

Local Martial Arts Instructor Awarded "Master" Status

Following the visit of two Martial Arts Grand Masters to Caithness, local man Vince Tait has been graded to 5th Dan Master.   KSD Martial Arts hosted the annual Northern Budo Alliance Bushi seminar in Wick where instruction was given by Soke Gunter Bauer, 10th Dan Hapkido (Grand Master), Soke Mark Kemp, 10th Dan Kempo JuJitsu (Grand Master), along with Kyoshi Neil Hourston 7th Dan (Master).  

Caithness Creates Its Own Olympic Torch Relay

Duncraig Educational Trust Open For 2012 Applications

The Duncraig Educational Trust is open now for funding applications for grants up to £1000.   Councillor Bill Fernie, chairman of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee of Highland Council who also sat on the group making the awards said," The Duncraig Trust has already helped with funding for a wide range of young people and in 2012 the emphasis will be on young folk looking to improve their performances towards the Commonwelath Games but this will not preclude other areas completely so it is well worth looking at the criteria to see if you qualify to apply." The Duncraig Educational Trust Scheme can offer financial assistance to young Highland people who can meet the essential criteria for the scheme.
