Scottish Swimming Competitions Inverness
520 competitors from swimming clubs in Scotland will arrive in Inverness to compete at the Scottish Short Course Championships held at Inverness Leisure from Friday 15th until Sunday 18th December.� This championship event covers the full Olympic Programme, showcasing the young talent from around the country. 18 Highland Swim Team members from clubs across the Highlands have qualified, �aiming to achieve their best performances in their home pool.� Highland Swim Team will compete in 11 Relay Team events ranging from 4 x 100 Freestyle to 4 x 50 Medley Relays.20/11/2011
HIGH LIFE HIGHLAND SAYS 'MOVE IT TO LOSE IT'

Scottish Open to return to Castle Stuart in 2012
The Highland Council is delighted to learn that the Scottish Open will return to Castle Stuart Golf Links near Inverness in the week prior to The Open Championship next year. The confirmation of the date and venue will be part of The European Tour's announcement of the second portion of the 2012 International Schedule which will be made in Dubai next month.15/11/2011
Caithness Teams At Scottish Tarmac Championships
On the 5th of November Crail Airfield hosted the final single stage rally of the Scottish Tarmac Championship, known as the Kingdom Stages and run by GMSC. Three Caithness Car Club crews travelled down to compete in this fast 44mile rally.9/11/2011
High Life Highland Launches Its Christmas Challenge
High Life Highland, established on the 1st October to deliver Community Learning and Leisure services on behalf of The Highland Council, launches its first Highland-wide community event this month. Olympic Flame Is Coming To John O'Groats
On 27 July, 2012, the eyes of the world will be on London for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games as the Olympic Flame arrives at the Olympic Stadium for the lighting of the cauldron to signify the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. In the build up to the start of the event, the Olympic Flame will make its journey from Greece and arrive in the UK on 18 May 2012, ready for the Olympic Torch Relay to begin the following day.[Football]

Thurso Junior Golfers Second In Championships
Highland Junior Golf Championships at Spey Valley More than 40 young golfers from golf clubs in Highland, Moray and Orkney took part in the ninth Highland Junior Golf Championships held at Spey Valley Golf Course, Aviemore, on Thursday 13 October 2011. Nairn Academy won the Highland Schools Team event with Thurso High School last year's winners in second place.5/9/2011

The Daily Telegraph, in partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland, has launched a new grants programme to support community and amateur sports clubs across the country. For the next two years, community and amateur sports clubs such as village cricket clubs, the lawn bowls clubs, badminton club, amateur boxing clubs, etc, will be able to apply for a �1,000 Amateur Sports Clubs Grant packages.4/9/2011

World Orienteering Championships Coming To Highland In 2015
British Orienteering awarded the 2015 World Orienteering Championships At a press conference today the International Orienteering Federation announced that British Orienteering will host the 2015 World Orienteering Championships. There was competition to stage the event with Sweden submitting a strong bid; however the strength of the British Orienteering bid won favour with the IOF.27/7/2011

Opening Up Canoeing in Caithness and North Sutherland
The Thurso-based Pentland Canoe Club has taken delivery of 4 open canoes along with associated equipment and a trailer thanks to support from the Awards For All Scotland programme and a Discretionary Ward Grant from The Highland Council. The equipment was handed over to the Club by John Thurso MP and Councillor David Flear representing The Highland Council.6/7/2011
5th & 6th for Caithness Rally Drivers
Two Caithness crews travelled down to compete in the GMSC Summer Stages held at Crail in Fife on the 3rd July. The event attracted 54 entries from Scotland, England, and Ireland and with the weather being one of the hottest days this was going to be a very fast, exciting event.5/7/2011
