Beginners Karate Classes In Wick

Kick start your New Year with a fitness programme with a difference. Wick Tora-Kai Karate Club is now running Beginners Classes for all ages 12 and upwards every Monday night at 7.00 pm in the Assembly Rooms. There is no need for any special training equipment. A track suit or jogging bottoms and tee-shirt is fine to begin.

Beginners can come along any Monday and be given training suited to their age and ability by qualified instructors.

The classes will be run from January through to April, so there is no single signing up date. Just come along when you can and enjoy learning Traditional Japanese Karate.
Childrens (under 12) beginners classes are held all year round every Saturday at Midday.

The Wick club is run by Sensei Michael Tait (4th Dan) and meets in the Assembly Rooms, Wick.

Beginners Classes will be run every Monday at 7.00pm
and for Children (under 12) Every Saturday at Midday.

Club Background
Tora-Kai is a Scotland-wide network of Shotokan Karate clubs, which was established over 35 years ago. The Wick club has been in existence since 1984. It offers its students the benefits of being part of a large organisation whilst encouraging the friendly atmosphere, diversity and individuality that can only be found in a locally run club.
Club Grading examinations are held every 6 months and are conducted by Sensei K. Taylor (6th Dan).

Affiliations
Tora-Kai is affiliated with the Scottish Traditional Karate Federation (STKF). Its licensing body is the Scottish Karate Board (SKB), which is recognised by the Scottish Sports Council. Through its association to the STKF, the club has the support of a hierarchy of organisations from national through to world level: the United Kingdom Traditional Karate Federation (UKTKF), the International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF) and the Japan Karate Association (JKA).

All classes are run by qualified instructors ratified by the Scottish Karate Board (SKB)

On Saturday 6th April 2013, Karate students from across the County took part in the clubs annual Kata & Kumite Competition in Wick Assembly Rooms.  Competitors ranged in ages and grades from 6 year old beginners to adult brown and black belts.

Some of the senior members of Caithness Tora-Kai karate club recently attended the International Traditional Karate Federation summer course at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.  This annual event has been attended by Caithness exponents for the past 20 years.
