Council congratulates Inverness Bravehearts

The Highland Council have warmly congratulated Inverness Caledonian Thistle on reaching their first major cup final with a thrilling penalty shoot out victory over Hearts in the semi final of the Scottish Communities League cup.   the score was 2 - 2 at full time and went on to penalties and ended at Inverness Caledonian Thistle win 4-2 on penalties Leader Councillor Drew Hendry said: "I am always delighted when Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Ross County do well and this was a historic day for the Inverness club with a memorable and dramatic win.  

Wick & District Pool League - Week 10

Steve Atkins Bayview1 side moved back to the top of division one on Monday night, after Crown1 held Camps2 to a 6-6 draw in week ten of the Wick & District Pool League.   Alan Larnach's Crown1 side played some exceptional pool as they came from 2-0 down to lead 5-2, before Camps2 battled back to earn the draw.  

Academy hit four-m as they get back on track

Wick Academy..4 Turriff United..1 Reporter Noel Donaldson WICK ACADEMY bounced back from their four defeats on-the-trot to get back on track with a emphatic 4-1 win over Turriff United at Harmsworth Park.   A first-half barrage of three goals within 10 minutes put the points out of reach for the visitors - as was the Scorries' first goal.

Outdoor enthusiasts urged to prepare for harsh winter

With the harsh winter looming, outdoor enthusiasts are being urged to stay safe on the hills, slopes and mountains of Scotland.   Sport Minister Shona Robison made the call as she met winter safety instructors at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena at Ratho.

Bayview1 have overtaken their Lybster rivals Commercial at the top of Wick & District Pool League\'s division one.   Steve Atkins Bayview side took revenge on Blackstairs, who had knocked them out of the cup, in an impressive 8-4 win.

Suzanne Carter's Camps1 team came back from 4-2 down against Mountain Dew on Monday night to earn their third draw in four games so far this season.   Carter was the standout player in this match, winning all three of her games to help her side take a 6-5 lead.  

Call for Highland Baton Bearers

The Queen's Baton Relay will officially be celebrated in The Highlands on Friday 11th July 2014, but this will not be the only day of activity in the region.  There is an opportunity for over 100 local people to carry the baton in approximately 15 different towns across the Highlands so organisers are spreading the message that "The Queen's Baton Relay is 'relay, relay' coming to a town near you" to encourage local communities to get involved and nominate local baton bearers On Friday 11th July the Queen's Baton Relay will arrive on the mainland from Orkney, then spend a full day visiting towns and communities in the region as it travels southwards.  

Scottish Tarmac Championship 2013

The final round of the Blue Scottish Tarmac Championship was held at the old Second World War airfield at Crail, Fife.   Bill & Sara Hamilton Travelled down to compete in their Opel Kadett 2000cc rally car.

The Commercial remain top of Wick & District Pool Leagues first division as they kept up their 100% record after defeating Blackstairs 8-4 on Monday night.   Gavin Mackay and John Mcgill were the outstanding players of the night, helping the Lybster side get the better of last seasons Rockwater Shield champions.
