Excellent Markmanship by Caithness Competitors At National Championships
Caithness shooters put on a fine display of marksmanship at the National Small-bore Rifle Association Scottish Championship event, held at Bankend near Dumfries last week in changeable weather conditions. Whilst overall a clutch of medals and podium placings returned to Caithness it was the three youngest Caithness representatives who brought home the silverware. ... [more]
The early mist burned off last Saturday and Round 3 of the CMXC championship went ahead at the Ravenshill track, the event was kindly sponsored by Robert Menzies Transport of Bonnybridge which allowed all of the riders to take home some well earned silverware. What a result for Caithness Motorsport with Allan Mackay scoring a first in Class 5 and a second overall in his Evo while his son Gordon had a second in class 3 and a tenth overall in a near standard Peugeot 106, Mark Alexander in his Evo achieving 16th overall and 7th in class, all on the third round of the Scottish Tarmac Championship which was held down at Crail, Astruther in Fife on the 14th & 15th of June. Five Caithness crews had entered and traveled down to compete in the event which consisted of 96 competitive miles run over 2 days. ... [more]

Caithness Angler takes Record Fish
When Caithness anglers Ronald MacKenzie and Raymond Millard set out for the day fly fishing on Loch Heilan, little did they know that they would end up in the record books for the second time in the space of 12 months. On 8th June 2007 the pair were out fishing on Loch Heilan when Millard hooked a huge Brown Trout which eventually tipped the scales at 10lbs 12ozs. ... [more]

Caithness Crews Heads For The Scottish Tarmac Championship Round 3
The second World War airfield at Crail, Astruther, Fife will host the third round of the Scottish Tarmac Championship on 14th and 15th June. Unusually this single venue event is being held over two days, comprising of 8 stages on the Saturday followed by 8 on the Sunday totalling 96 competitive mile made up of 85% tarmac 10% loose and 5% gravel. ... Council to constitute Highland Schools Highland Games Association
People with an interest or expertise in Highland Games are being invited by The Highland Council to an open meeting on Monday 21st April to discuss developing a Highland Schools Highland Games Association. The aim of the meeting which is being held at 6pm at the Council’s Chambers in Glenurquhart Road is to constitute a Highland Schools Highland Games Association which will: • develop and support events, standards and rules for junior competition; • develop the number and quality of junior heavies; • secure funding and sponsorship for highland games; • develop and deliver training to ensure safe and fun participation in highland games; and • secure support from people with an interest in furthering highland games participation. ... Caithness Rythmic Gymnasts Compete In Aberdeen
