Queens Hotel are this seasons Wick and District Pool League Division 2 champions, having defeated the Francis Street Club in the league decider.  Played in the Seaforth Highlanders Club, this league decider was necessary because both teams finished on the same points with equal frame differences.

PM 'Embarrassed' by Transport Secretary Says Boardman
The Prime Minister has been 'embarrassed' by the Transport Secretary's inaction on cycling, British Cycling's policy adviser Chris Boardman said today in response to the government's publication of its cycling delivery plan consultation.   British Cycling's policy adviser, Chris Boardman, said:"After the triumphs of London 2012, the Prime Minister promised a 'cycling revolution' and, even though today's announcement has been almost two years in the making, we are still waiting for his government to produce a clear strategy on cycling.

Special Olympics GB Receives Historic £2m Funding Boost
Special Olympics Great Britain, the charity which helps children and adults with intellectual (learning) disabilities take part in year-round sports coaching and competition activities, has received a huge funding boost from the government.   Special Olympics GB currently has 150 local clubs that serve 8,000 intellectually disabled athletes with the help of its dedicated army of 4,000 volunteers across England, Scotland and Wales.

Steve Atkins' Bayview1 side have won the 2015 Rockwater Shield for a second time after a hard fought victory over the Queens Hotel.  The team from Lybster, having previously won this knockout competition and having been strong contenders in league Division One were most people's strong favourites going in to the final against newly promoted Wick side Queens Hotel and indeed ran out 6-1 winners.

Major British Businesses Urge Politicians to #Choosecycling
A network of major businesses - including Santander, Sky, GlaxoSmithKline, National Grid, British Land and The AA - have formed a national group to urge politicians to form an integrated transport strategy for cycling, British Cycling announced today.   In its first joint call for action, the group – brought together by British Cycling and named the #ChooseCycling network – has written an open letter to party leaders asking for commitments on funding and leadership ahead of the general election in May.

Crown1 have won their first ever Wick & District Pool League title, as they were crowned division one champions on Monday night after a 7-5 victory over Blackstairs.   In one of the most open title races in recent memory, it was Alan Larnach's Crown team who would clinch the championship putting an end to Camps2's five year winning streak.

The Queens Hotel turned around a 6-3 1st leg deficit to beat The Francis Street Club 6-0 to make it to final of 2014\15 Rockwater Shield where they will face Steve Atkins' Bayview1 side.   Jim Bain and Brian Robertson got the Queens off to a perfect start, as they battled hard to earn wins over Stewart Steven and Brian Munro.
