The low cost inclusive High Life membership scheme for leisure facilities in Highland has received a growing amount of national attention over the last two years.   Notably a Scottish Government working group has recognised the scheme as a significantly different operating model, which enables access to all regardless of income levels and one that could potentially be replicated by other Local Authorities and Leisure Trusts across Scotland.

Highland baton bearers named for Commonwealth Games
The Glasgow 2014 team have announced the names of the 109 batonbearers who will take part when the Queens Baton Relay comes to the Highlands next month.   On Friday 4 July 10 baton bearers will take the baton through Aviemore as it makes it's way to Perth.

The Mahindra Formula E team completed a successful shakedown of the team's new Formula E car on Wednesday, at a wet Donington Park circuit in the UK.  Taking part in the first ever shakedown for the 10 Formula E teams, Mahindra Racing drivers Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok completed various system checks during the day's running.

The Highlands prepare to celebrate as Queens Baton Relay draws nearer With just a month to go until the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay arrives in the Highlands, communities across the area are busy preparing to mark this once in a lifetime occasion.   The first Highland sighting of the Baton, which has travelled over 190,000kms around the globe, will be in Aviemore on Friday 4 June while it is en-route from Moray to Perth and Kinross.

Suzanne Carter's Camps Bar "1" side defeated the Francis Street Club 8-2 on Monday night to go top of the Wick & District Summer Pool League.   Shane Honeyman's fantastic break & clearance in the opening frame got the Camps Bar team off to a perfect start, and they would win five of the next six frames to secure a well deserved three points.

BT Sport Signs Up 19,000 Commercial Premises in Nine Months
BT Sport has announced that more than 19,000 pubs, clubs, betting shops, hotels and other commercial premises have now signed up to its sports service.   In just nine months since the channels went on air for the first time last August independent research shows that BT Sport has captured 24 per cent of all pubs, including groups and independents, putting BT Sport neck and neck with Sky at 25 per cent.* BT has increased the commercial market for TV sports packages - based on the number of new customers who have not previously subscribed – by around 26 per cent.
