Summer League 2002 - Week 15 Report

The penultimate night of the Summer Monday Night League saw the tension build as the overall scorelines tightened.
Hitmen & Her played Papa's Kids in match one and the first game was a close run effort, with all the pressure bearing down on Hitmen's Ally Gray in the final shot. An unlucky split handed Papa's Kids the one point edge. It was tit for tat in the other two games which accounts for the final scores being 10 apiece.
Gutterlevel came up against Wasters in the second match and were overwhelmed throughout by their on-form opponents. Only Linda Clarke managed to take most of her points for Gutterlevel including a 202 game and 563 series. Wasters scores were headed by Matthew Heenan's 211 game and 565 series - the night's best. The end result being a 13 - 7 win in Wasters favour.
In the final match, Gowks played the vacancy scores team and, with some consistent scoring, managed to put away 18 of the available 20 points.
The final position round early matches will feature Gutterlevel (183 points) facing Gowks (173½), Hitmen & Her (169½) versus Wasters (165½) while Papa's Kids (155) will play the vacancy scores in the later session. With such small points differences the top three places are still up for grabs by virtually all teams.

Winter League 2002 - Week 1 Report
The start of the Monday Night Winter Tenpin League was a muted affair as uncertainty over the number of teams competing bought some confusion to the proceedings. Things were not helped by a new team, a number of member changes, missing team members, and the Secretary's minor blunder in providing incorrect handicaps for the early session bowlers! Whether due to the heat or the long Jubilee Weekend, the 5th round of the Monday Night Tenpin League bought yet another crop of good scores with last week's nine 200+ games topped by one this week. At the midway point of the Monday Night Summer League the recent run of high scoring games was smashed by a a three-game scratch series of 621 which is going to be difficult to beat.
