Summer League 2002 - Week 3 Report

Monday night signalled the last round prior to most bowler's handicaps re-establishing and some good performances were on offer.

The first match saw Gowks take on Papa's Kids in a cat-and-mouse game which resulted in a 10-10 draw. Gowk's sub Ron Reid managing to catch a point by one pin from an in-form Geoff Simpson in a close contest, with Geoff
totalling 591 pins (including a 207 game) to Ron's 553.

Unusually, the second of the night's matches also ended in a 10-10 draw. Dave McGillvray once again pulling a great performance out of the hat for Gutterlevel as they went up against Hitmen & Her. Despite his 596 series (including a 229 game) and Robin Clarke's 211 game, all the Hitmen pulled form with notable performances from Gary Ross (575 series), Ally Gray (554 series with 217 game) and Roddy Bremner with a 200 game.

The final match found Wasters taking advantage of the other teams' level scores to win 15 - 5 over the vacancy scores team. The best result of the match came from Matther Heenan with a 540 series including a 204 game.

Looking at next week's games, the team which suffers the most from their good start to the season is Gutterlevel with a drop in total handicaps of 27 pins. Most other teams either dropping or gaining just a few pins.
