Wick & District Pool League - Summer Final
Camps Bar "1" recorded an impressive 7-3 victory over defending champions Queens Hotel on Monday night to qualify for the semi final stage and finish in second place in the league. Dave Mcgillivray and Mark Alexander were the star players for Camps "1", winning both their singles as well as an excellent 8-ball clearance for McGillivray.[Football]

A bumper crowd is expected to attend Saturday's Inverness Highland Games following the announcement by the Games Committee that children aged 12 and under will be admitted free to the event as part of the celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of Northern Meeting Park. Camps Bar "2" are the first team to qualify for the Wick & District Summer Pool League semi final play-off stage after defeating defending champions Queens Hotel on Monday night. Highland communities gear up to host Queen's Commonwealth baton relay next week
Final preparations are underway in Ullapool, Lairg and Thurso as communities get ready to give a Highland welcome to the Queen's baton relay when it returns to and crosses the Highlands en route from the Western Isles to Orkney on Wednesday 9 July . The day starts at 9.00am at the Ullapool ferry terminal when the Baton is carried off the Stornoway Ferry and is officially welcomed by Janet Bowen the Lord Lieutenant for Ross and Cromarty who will hand it over to the first of 8 baton bearers.27/6/2014
First Highland sighting of Queens Baton to be in Aviemore next week
The first chance to see the 2014 Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton in the Highlands will be a week today when the relay arrives in Aviemore on Friday 4 July. 10 eager baton bearers will be lined up and ready at 10am next Friday as the relay convoy enters Aviemore on Grampian Road to travel south through the village.24/6/2014

High Life membership scheme praised by the Scottish Government
The low cost inclusive High Life membership scheme for leisure facilities in Highland has received a growing amount of national attention over the last two years. Notably a Scottish Government working group has recognised the scheme as a significantly different operating model, which enables access to all regardless of income levels and one that could potentially be replicated by other Local Authorities and Leisure Trusts across Scotland.12/6/2014
Highland baton bearers named for Commonwealth Games
The Glasgow 2014 team have announced the names of the 109 batonbearers who will take part when the Queens Baton Relay comes to the Highlands next month. On Friday 4 July 10 baton bearers will take the baton through Aviemore as it makes it's way to Perth.11/6/2014

Successful Shakedown for Mahindra Formula E Team
The Mahindra Formula E team completed a successful shakedown of the team's new Formula E car on Wednesday, at a wet Donington Park circuit in the UK.
