FREE Transport For Young People To Wave North

Young people from across Caithness will be able to participate in the Wave North Festival near Thurso Harbour thanks to transportation arrangements made by council and youth service staff.

Following a conversation between High Life Highland's Youth Development Officer Keith Moncur and The Highland Council's Ward Manager for Caithness David Sutherland, two free buses have been laid on for the event, which is on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October.

As well as the Thurso Surfing Championships, the Wave North Festival will offer BMX and Skate Park tuition with all necessary equipment provided, as well as live music.

Mr Moncur said, "We have a school coach from Drummuie running Route 1 starting from South East Caithness, and a Harrolds coach covering Route 2 in the North. This will help ensure that where transport would have been a barrier to participation, we break that barrier down."

The two routes for both days are as follows:
Route 1: Dunbeath War Memorial (0850hrs) - Latheron Post Office (0858hrs) Lybster Portland Arms (0905hrs) - Wick (0932hrs) - Haster (0937hrs) - Watten Post Office (0947hrs) - Halkirk Shop, Sinclair Street (1000hrs) - (via Glengolly) - Thurso Harbour (1015hrs)

Route 2: Reiss Crossroads (0910hrs) - Sinclair Bay Hotel, Keiss (0920hrs) - Canisbay Village Hall (0938hrs) - Britannia Hall, Dunnet (0954hrs) - Castletown Drill Hall (1000hrs) - Thurso Harbour (1015hrs)

Both routes depart Thurso Harbour at 1630hrs each day.
