Thurso Junior Swifts

Thurso Junior Swifts football club was formed in 1975 to provide football coaching to local youngsters. The club trains year-round during school term times and plays matches and tournaments from Spring to Autumn against other teams in the Caithness Boys’ Football Association.

Under the guidelines of the Scottish Football Association, football is played for enjoyment and skill development in the under 7, 9 and 11 age groups. The under 13 and 15 age groups play competitive football within a league structure.

Swifts welcomes younger players with no experience of the game, both boys and girls. All that is required is some basic equipment: suitable clothes, trainers/boots and shin guards. The training year starts after the October school holiday but players may join at any time by coming to a training session.

Training is on a Tuesday evening at Naver All Weather pitch and for younger groups in the High School games hall during the winter months. This is also where we play most of our home matches which are normally on Fridays.

The club is run by volunteers and with the goodwill of parents. For funding, the club relies on membership fees and money raised from sponsorship and donations.
