Thurso Golf Club

Thurso Golf Club is an 18-hole, 5853 yard, par 69 parkland course situated on the south west side of the town offering panoramic views of Thurso, Dunnet Head and across the Pentland Firth to the Orkney Islands. It is the most northerly 18-hole golf course on the British mainland, and is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome given to visitors.

Recent course improvements, including extensive tree-planting and drainage programmes, have transformed the course into one that ranks with many of the best in the North. Probably the most challenging hole on the course is the par 5 fourth which is usually played straight into the prevailing wind. The hole has trees on both sides and crosses three ditches before you reach a tree protected green shared with the first hole.

The Thurso Open, which is always held on the second Saturday in August, is one of the main competitions in the North and attracts competitors from England and Ireland as well as Scotland and the Northern Isles.
