We have three age groups, U12, U14 & U16. Each age group has 20 boys who are given specialist coaching. We are linked to Ross County who take our better players and play them in the national youth league.

Membership
Members are selected from the various teams in the County.

About Caithness United
Caithness United was set up to provide a team that involves and represents the whole county. The club was formally constituted in January 2000 and is run by a committee whose membership is drawn across the county, with regular meetings held in both Wick and Thurso.

Caithness United was set up to give sixty of the younger players in Caithness and north Sutherland a bigger football stage to play in. In doing so it will give them the opportunity to progress further in the game if possible by being spotted by club scouts from bigger clubs in the south.

Caithness United has joined forces with Ross County, to help the boys progress in the game. Ross County’s youth teams play in the premier league against teams such as Celtic, Rangers Dundee United etc and we have some boys who now train and play for Ross County.

Caithness United is a member of the Highland Youth League and players throughout the County and north Sutherland play for Caithness United. The Highland (North) Youth League extends as far as Elgin in the east and Fort William in the west. The teams that we compete against are, Elgin, Forres, Nairn, Fort William and Invergordon. The games are played on a home and away basis every two weeks during the winter with a break in December and January.

At present we have two teams in the league, Under 16’s and Under 14’s, we also run an Under 12’s team but there is no league for them to play in meantime. The under 16’s have had some good results in the league winning the majority of games. The under 14’s have demonstrated their skills by winning every game they have played, even friendlies against Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle.

In August 2001, Caithness United under 14’s were invited to play in the Orkney International Youth Football Festival. Teams from Shetland (2), Orkney (3), Caithness, Aberdeen and Norway played two mini leagues with the top two playing a semi final and final. Caithness United won the tournament beating Aberdeen in the final. Caithness never lost a game throughout the tournament and the boys were a credit to the club and the County.
