Safeguarding & Protecting Children - Wednesday 12th December, Thurso High School 6.30-9.30pm
This workshop and resource meets the basic foundation requirements for safeguarding and protecting children and young people in sport, for anyone whose role brings them into contact with children and young people. Recognised by UKCC and lasts 3 years.

Child Protection Officer Training (In Safe Hands) DATE TBC FOR EARLY NEW YEAR
‘In Safe Hands' is a three hour workshop focusing on helping clubs to put child protection policies into practice. Organised by CHILDREN 1ST and sportscotland, the workshop is aimed at those acting in sports clubs as the Club Child Protection/Welfare Officer.
Emergency First Aid at Work - DATE TBC FOR EARLY NEW YEAR
This HSE Emergency First Aid Course is ideal for people requiring Appointed Person status, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. The one day course includes both theory and practical sessions within a relaxed atmosphere that is designed to promote confidence.
The syllabus includes: first aid priorities; examining a casualty; burns & scalds; first aid kits; managing incidents; unconsciousness; regulations; basic life support; control of bleeding and recording & reporting. Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for a period of three years.
