Still Chance To Get Tickets For Commonwealth Games 2014

12th October 2013

Thousands of opportunities to experience world-class live action across a wide range of sports at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are still up for grabs. On Friday, October 11th Games organisers unveiled their latest update of available tickets across the programme in advance of the exclusive on sale period which kicks off at 10am on Monday 21 October.

Ticket sales for Glasgow 2014 have already been an overwhelming success with requests for 2.3 million tickets for up to one million available. Huge spectator support is already assured throughout the 11 days of competition at the UK’s next big sporting festival, but, as today’s guide reveals, there are still a wealth of opportunities to see great sporting encounters in Glasgow next summer.

Most opportunities exist in four sports offering the chance to witness a variety of top sporting competition including the excitement of the Rugby Sevens at Ibrox; the breathtaking speed and accuracy of Badminton, regarded as the fastest racquet sport in the world; the sheer power and strength of the Weightlifters and a world-class Hockey competition featuring top-ranked men’s and women’s teams from across the Commonwealth.

There are also a limited number of tickets remaining for specific sessions or price categories in Athletics, Boxing and Gymnastics (Rhythmic) and for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Information is being sent out today to the hundreds of thousands of people who have already applied for tickets to let them know about the exclusive on sale period which allows them to buy any remaining tickets on a first-come, first-served basis before they are put on general public sale.

The exclusive on sale period will run from 10am on Monday, 21 October to Saturday, 26- October, with the first two days – Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd – dedicated exclusively to those who received no tickets from their application.

From 10am on Wednesday 23 October applicants who received some of their requested tickets in the application period will also be able to access the Ticketing website. On Friday 25 and Saturday 26October everyone who applied for tickets will have an exclusive second chance to top-up their ticket account before all remaining tickets go on general public sale.

Glasgow 2014 is already confirmed as one of the most popular events in Scotland’s history with 17 sports on offer across 11 days of elite competition, ensuring 4500 Commonwealth athletes competing for Gold and glory in Glasgow will do so in packed stadia. Today’s news is that there’s still a chance to be part of it.

Ty Speer, Deputy Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014 said:

“We have been really delighted with the phenomenal demand for tickets since the opening of applications, but the message to everyone is there are still great tickets available to experience great sport in Glasgow next summer.

“Ahead of the exclusive on-sale period we wanted to give ticket applicants the opportunity to think, plan and get excited about the opportunities that still exist to be part of the UK’s next big sporting occasion.”
