Improve Your Navigation Skills In The Outdoors

Great Glen Way Ranger course is on track to help the navigationally challenged
People who get lost in their local supermarket or think that gaiters are man-eating animals are being invited by the Great Glen Way Rangers to expand their horizons by joining them on a course called "Navigation for Numpties".
During the six part course the Rangers will to introduce participants to the theory and practice of navigating in the outdoors. Four evening workshops will be held at the Craigmonie Centre in Drumnadrochit and the course will finish with an afternoon of orienteering practice in beautiful woodland near Fort Augustus, followed by a day's hill walking up the challenging but scenic Meall Fuar-Mhonaidh.
The practical weekend sessions run from March until May 2011and due to the previous popularity and high demand for places, potential participants are being urged to book early.
Lynda Dodd, Great Glen Way Manager said: "If you love the idea of the great outdoors but reckon that a Corbett is a wee comedian off the telly, and always rely on others to read maps then we are here to help you".

The evening Navigation for Numpties workshops for will run on 23 and 30 March,
6 and 13 April from 7-9pm; and the orienteering afternoon will be on 21 May from 1-3:30pm; with the hill walk on 28 May from 1-3:30pm.
Places are limited on this popular event, so booking is essential. Sessions can be paid for individually or whole-course tickets can be booked for just �20.
