Members and friends gathered at St Johns Loch for the trophy presentation following their Annual Member’s Competition. The competition was won by Wick angler Pat Nicol who took the Trophies for Heaviest Basket and Heaviest Fish. The Trophies were presented by the longest serving active member, Jim Calder of Dunnet.

As if the day wasn’t special enough, Jim had an even more important duty to perform. This was to officially open the new Angler’s Lodge at the Association Harbour. Replacing the small temporary structure on the site, the new building consists of two sections. The first provides safe and secure storage for member’s angling equipment while the other large public room, open to all, provides an area where anglers can take their lunch break out of the weather. It will also provide a warm dry place to change out of wet clothing after a typical summer day out on the loch!

To the front of the building there is a paved deck area with seating for use during dry and warmer days.

Funding assistance for the Alastair Foggo designed building came from the Highland Council Ward Discretionary Fund and the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund to whom the Association would like to record their gratitude.

Membership of the Association is open to residents of Caithness and further information can be obtained from the Association website at www.stjohnsloch.net , by email contact[AT]stjohnsloch.net or via Secretary Neil Macdonald on 01847-896956.
