Competitors in the Seniors Open at Lybster Golf Club on Wednesday were subjected to blustery conditions, which made scoring difficult in the Stableford-format competition.

The winner was John Munro from the host club, with a very respectable 36 points. This also secured the Connon Plate, presented to the Lybster G.C. member with the best score on the day.

The runner-up was Ian Fraser of Thurso Golf Club, with 33 points and a better inward half from former winner, and Lybster member, Jimmy Hope.

An excellent shot by J.M. Cameron of Wick G.C., which left the ball only 11'4" from the hole, won the bottle of whisky prize for the 'Nearest the Hole' competition at the 5th and 14th.

In presenting the prizes, club captain Alex Calder thanked the greens staff and members for all their hard work which ensured the golf course was in excellent condition for competitors.

John will be in action again tomorrow, competing for the Cormack Cup in the final match of the Club Championship. His opponent will be former winner Alistair Young. The match will be played over 36 holes and will tee-off at 10am, with spectators welcome.
