Lybster sides Bayview & The Commercial dropped their first points of the season on Monday night in the Wick & District Summer Pool League. Bottom side Camps1 played extremely well to earn themselves a draw against Steve Atkins experienced Bayview team.
George Zindilis' Commercial side made it three wins out of three on Monday night after defeating The Francis Street Club 9-1 to stay top of the Wick & District Summer Pool League. Zindilis and Raymond Gunn were the star players for the Lybster side in an impressive victory.
The Francis Street Club hosted the 3rd Annual Bfest Pairs Championships this past weekend, with players from both divisions battling it out for the last title of the Wick & District Pool League season. Seaforth Club's pairing of George Smith and Nathan Lightly won all of their group games on Saturday, playing some great pool to book their place in Sundays semi final.
The Sinclair Bay Hotel hosted the 2013 Captain's Cup tournament this past Saturday in what turned out to be an exciting tournament with some great pool played by all participants. The star of the opening rounds was Sinclair Bay's Milky Ronaldson, who knocked out two former Captains Cup winners on his way to booking a semi final spot.
Ryan Cook's Blackstairs "2" side won their first ever Wick & District Pool League title on Monday night after defeating Camps "2" 6-2 to win the 2013 Rockwater Shield final. An impressive team performance from the Blackstairs team ended Camps2's hopes of a fourth straight league & cup double.
The Queen's Hotel pool team clinched Wick & District Pool League's second division title on Monday night, thanks to an impressive 9-2 win over Bayview "2". Andrew Coghill played well in the opening stages of the match as Queens went 2-1 ahead.
Wick & District Pool League's 2nd and 3rd placed teamss (Crown1 & Bayview1) battled it out on Monday night as both teams looked to keep their title challenges intact. Colin Banks got the Crown side off to a great start to help them take a 1-0 lead, before Ted Gunn pulled one back for Bayview.
Wick & District Pool League's top two sides Camps2 & Crown1 recorded very impressive victories over Seaforth Club and The Commercial respectively on Monday night. Alan Larnach's Crown1 side remain in the title hunt after a great team performance helped them to a 9-2 win over The Commercial.
Ryan Cook's Blackstairs "2" side produced an outstanding team performance in the Wick District Pool League on Monday night, defeating Bayview "1" 8-3. Some great pool played by James Riach, Gordon Steven, Arthur Bruce and Alex Rosie helped the Blackstairs team race into a 4-0 lead.
The first leg of Wick & District Pool League's Rockwater Shield Semi Finals took place on Monday night. Six time champions Camps2 hosted last years beaten finalists Bayview1, while Ryan Cook's Blackstairs2 side travelled out to Keiss to play second division side Sinclair Bay.
Wick & District Pool League has now split into two divisions as all fourteen teams have played each other once. The top seven will now face each other again as they compete for the first division title, as will the bottom seven who will compete for the second division title.
Wick & District Pool League's title race saw no changes at the top of the table as Camps2, Bayview1 and Crown1 all recorded 7-4 wins. Camps2 hosted Sinclair Bay on Monday night in an important game for both teams.
Alan Larnach's Crown1 team produced an outstanding performance in week 11 of the Wick & District Pool League as they knocked Bayview1 off top spot with a 7-4 win. Crown1 have improved dramatically this season with every member of their team playing some exceptional pool.
Monday night saw George Zindilis' Commercial team mount an outstanding comeback in their Rockwater Shield second leg tie against Blackstairs2, only to lose out in a 12-man play-off frame. The Lybster team trailed 6-1 from the first leg but played exceptionally well to win the second leg 6-1 taking the match to a 6 versus 6 deciding frame.

As The Cutting Edge Barbers Snooker League comes to a close. Mark Mackay regained his title managing to fend off Derek Johnston more than by a single point this season.

No change in the Cutting Edge Snooker League this week as Mark Mackay and Derek Johnston continue to dominate the top of the table, solid results by both see them extend their positions, the two main chasers of Ian Macphee and Alan Mackenzie don't seem to have the fire power to challenge the leaders yet, and it might come down to slip ups by the top two to let any of the chasers in with a shout. Macbeath's the Jewellers Knockout is still not decided, however the Open County Singles Championships will be held on the 1st of April, in Thurso, Viewfirth.
No change at the top of the Cutting Edge Barbers Snooker League at the half way point. The standard of play is improving with some close games over the last couple of weeks.
The half way stage is approaching, and the two form players of Mark Mackay and Derek Johnston, have set the pace. The standard of snooker at the start of the league was very patchy buy all the players, but this was expected due to the lack of competition throughout the County over the last couple of seasons.
