FOOTBALL came home to Harmsworth Park on Saturday and supporters, thirsting for the return after a match famine, couldn't have been more delighted.
There was no love lost between the sides as the Scorries disposed of opponents Huntly with no less that four goals without reply, to leap-frog into third place in the Highland League table.
In boxing parlance, the Scorries delivered a quick one-two on the visitors, Davie Allan putting them on the canvas with the first strike and Lukasz Geruzel flooring them again, minutes later. The big fella then compounded Huntly's misery by netting, again, in the 22nd minute, through service from Richard Macadie, to put his side into the break with an unassailable lead.
Huntly made a determined start in the second half but any chance hopes of making the scoreline a little more respectable didn't materialise, in no small part due, to some sharp defending and impressive goalkeeping. The whitewash was completed by Steven Anderson from close in.
Earlier, Harmsworth Park fell silent, in a minute's tribute to departed Academy faithful, Donald Macdonald, Dom Mulraine and school sports co-ordinator Garry Macleod.
Attendance at the game came nearer to that of a Wick v Brora derby encounter, an indicator of just how keen fans were to see their side back in action.
Man-of-the match was Sam Mackay.
