Inverness Key landmarks illuminated to mark Cup Final appearance

5th March 2014

Key landmarks in Inverness will be illuminated in blue and red to mark Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s achievement in reaching their first major cup final against Aberdeen at Celtic Park, Glasgow on Sunday 16 March.

Between Monday 10 March and Monday 17 March, floodlights shining on the Castle, Cathedral and Town House will be blue; and those illuminating Ness Bridge will be blue and red chasing, the club’s official colours.

Inverness Provost Alex Graham said: “Inverness Caledonian Thistle have brightened up the lives of many people in the city by reaching their first national cup final in their 20-year history so this is a fitting tribute to the club and their supporters.”

The landmarks will also be displaying the colours of two charities during the month of March.

The Ness Bridge will be illuminated in pink between Friday 7 March and Monday 10 March in recognition of Cancer Research and the launch on Sunday 9 March of the Inverness Race for Life.

For the rest of the month, the landmarks will be yellow to recognise Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The illumination is provided by The Highland Council’s TEC Services lighting section.
