WINNERS AND THE RUNNERS UP OF THE LYBSTER INDOOR BOWLING CLUB OPEN COMPT. HELD ON SAT.
The Dorothy Budge Memorial Bowling Competition was played on Sat 21st July at the Rosebank Bowling green. Dorothy was a keen bowler and member of the Rosebank Bowling Club.
From Ropbert Lockwood On Sunday, Thurso Bowling Club won the prestigious Northern Counties Bowling Association's Top Ten competition. The top players from clubs around the north have been playing over the last few months in the hope of qualifying to reach the final.
St Fergus bowling club in Wick ran their third successful triples bowls competition at the weekend. 64 triples - 192 bowlers played in the two day competition spread over Thurso, Rosebank and St Fergus bowling greens.
The Swanson triples bowls competition held recently in the RBL Thurso, was won by the Wick indoor bowling club, in front row. from left, Bunty Cormack, Derry Cormack and Sandra Grant.
Murkle Indoor Bowling Club held their 5th Open Competition on Saturday 21st January in the British Legion, Thurso. A total of 36 teams from all over the North took part and a very high standard of bowls was on view all day.
The Campbell Cowie Shield is an annual competition between Wick Indoor Bowling Club and Wick Dounreay Indoor Bowling Club The winners this year were Mr & Mrs Frank McKellan and the runners up were Mrs V McNab and Mrs Jean Taylor. (pictured) .
The final between Dunbeath and Watten was a classic nail biting finish with score drawn at 6 - 6 after nine ends. The 10th and final end kept the onlookers on the edge of their seats until the last bowl when Watten came out with the final point to win the competition 7- 6.
